Mass Deportations? Russia Launches Migrant Control System

Starting February 5, a new deportation policy for undocumented foreigners takes effect in Russia. Those in violation will be added to a monitored list, which comes with a series of restrictions and eventual removal from the country, reports NewsBox.
From February 5, Russia will implement a new immigration policy targeting foreigners residing illegally in the country. All violators will be included in a special register of monitored individuals, accessible on the official Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) website.
Once the information is published on the site, the foreign national is deemed notified of their status. Being added to the register imposes significant restrictions: they cannot change their place of residence without MIA approval, travel outside their current region, drive a car, purchase property, register real estate, open bank accounts, or conduct financial transactions.
In addition, migrants listed are obligated to appear when summoned by the internal affairs authorities. Repeated violations of the imposed restrictions (more than twice) will result in the MIA deciding on deportation, and the violator will be held in a special facility until their removal.
