Major Drone Attack in Russia: 104 UAVs Shot Down

Russia has recently faced one of the largest drone attacks. According to the Ministry of Defense, air defense systems shot down 104 drones, but several regional officials report significant losses among the attacking UAVs. The strikes targeted an oil depot, a nuclear energy facility, and industrial areas, reports NewsBox.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that as a result of a massive attack by Ukrainian drones, air defense forces destroyed 104 UAVs. However, in individual regions, drones reached their targets, which was officially confirmed by the authorities.

Alexander Bogomaz, governor of the Kursk region, reported that 33 drones were shot down, while the Ministry of Defense indicated that only 27 drones were neutralized in the region. In the Tver region, the data discrepancy is also significant—local authorities counted 20 downed UAVs, whereas the Ministry of Defense reported only 8.

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, drone debris fell in the Kstovsky industrial zone and near the oil depot. In the Smolensk region, according to Governor Vasily Anokhin, the target of the attack was the Smolensk nuclear power plant. In both cases, no damage or casualties were reported.

Due to the threat of attacks, Kazan airport implemented the 'Carpet' plan, causing flight delays. Similar restrictions were imposed in Saint Petersburg, temporarily suspending operations at Pulkovo Airport.

In the Leningrad region, one drone was shot down over Lake Ladoga near Vsevolozhsk. Drones were also destroyed in the Bryansk (27 drones), Belgorod (4), Kaluga (3), and Rostov (1) regions.
