Infant from a Family Affected by Dichlorvos Poisoning Dies in Krasnoyarsk Region

A three-month-old baby from a family in the Krasnoyarsk region, where four children had been poisoned by dichlorvos last year, has died. Preliminary information suggests the cause of death was mechanical asphyxiation due to choking on vomit, reports NewsBox.

In the Krasnoyarsk region, a family that experienced a tragedy last September has faced another loss. A three-month-old infant was found lifeless in a crib in the village of Krasnaya Sopka. Preliminary data indicates that the incident was caused by mechanical asphyxiation, as vomit obstructed the infant's airway. The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the event.

Previously, the same family suffered from a mass poisoning that resulted in the death of four children. On September 21, 2024, the parents and their children fell seriously ill after dinner and were hospitalized. While the adults survived, the children, aged 6, 11, 12, and 13, died in the hospital. The investigation revealed that the poisoning was due to the Varan brand of dichlorvos, which was sprayed throughout the house by the head of the family, without ensuring adequate ventilation. In December, the man was charged with causing deaths through negligence.

Later, 32-year-old mother Victoria gave birth to a fifth child. The family temporarily moved out of the house where the previous tragedy had occurred and conducted renovations there.
