In Yakutia, the Caregiver Who Reported Child Abuse Sentenced to a Penal Colony

In Yakutia, a boarding school caregiver, Valentina Fedorova, who reported the abuse of children, has been sentenced to four years in a penal colony. The court found her guilty of mistreating the children and giving false testimony, according to NewsBox.
In Yakutia, the court has delivered a verdict against Valentina Fedorova, an employee of the Republican Boarding School for Deaf Children. She has been sentenced to four years in a colony for charges of abusing students and providing false witness statements. Additionally, the court ordered her to pay 600,000 rubles as compensation to the parents of the affected children, as reported by the republic's court press service.
In July 2023, Fedorova, along with her colleague Maria Anisimova, accused another boarding school caregiver, Lyubov Prokopieva, of treating the children harshly. They submitted video footage where the children described the abuse. After these materials were made public, Prokopieva was fired, but later accusations were also brought against Fedorova herself.
According to the caregiver, after the situation gained public attention, pressure was exerted on the children, and in December 2023, a letter from one of the boys emerged in the media, in which he asked for the video to be deleted and for complaints to be withdrawn. In January 2024, Fedorova was also dismissed from her position.
During her final statement, the woman claimed that she believes the charges against her are false and that she is being targeted due to a conflict with the former director of the boarding school, Oksana Vinokurova. Fedorova believes Vinokurova, who was previously dismissed for violations, is attempting to take revenge on her.
