In Kazan, an Anti-War Activist Wins a Lawsuit Against the State for Unlawful Search

In Kazan, a court has ruled the search conducted at the home of anti-war activist Zulfiya Sitdikova in the spring of 2023 to be unlawful. As per the court's decision, she is entitled to receive 40,600 rubles in compensation, reports NewsBox.
The Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan decided that the search conducted at Zulfiya Sitdikova's residence in May 2023 was illegal. The court granted the activist's lawsuit and awarded her a compensation of 40,600 rubles, according to the Tatarstan branch of the "Yabloko" party.
The search took place on May 16, 2023, as part of a criminal investigation against a Tatarstan resident, Pavel Chumakov, who was later fined 200,000 rubles for "repeatedly discrediting the Russian army." During the search, mobile phones and personal belongings were confiscated from Sitdikova, although she was not a suspect in the case.
Previously, Sitdikova had been found guilty of charges related to "discrediting" the military and "rehabilitating Nazism." The court sentenced her to a two-year suspended sentence for participating in an anti-war demonstration where she held signs saying "No to war" and "May 9th."
