In 'DNR', plans to confiscate apartments from Ukrainians with Russian passports

Denis Pushilin, the leader of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), has proposed temporarily confiscating apartments from Ukrainians who have obtained Russian passports, if they have moved to 'unfriendly' countries and are living there permanently. He also wants to ban the renting out of such properties, reports NewsBox.
Denis Pushilin, the DNR leader, has put forward the initiative to temporarily seize real estate from Ukrainians who have received Russian passports if they have relocated to 'unfriendly' countries and do not reside in the DNR. He further proposed introducing a ban on leasing or allowing third parties to use such properties.
He suggested including these changes in a draft law that the Russian government submitted to the State Duma on January 24. The document regulates the recognition of Ukrainian documents issued before the 'accession of regions into Russia.' However, the Russian side will not consider restrictions on property disposal imposed by Ukrainian courts.
Pushilin additionally suggests incorporating a provision regarding the 'temporary seizure' of real estate into a maneuver fund if the owners reside abroad. The property is planned to be returned to the owners only if they return to the DNR or 'friendly countries.'
According to Pushilin, such measures are necessary because many inhabitants of the 'DNR' come to obtain a Russian passport and register property but then leave back to Ukraine or countries in the European Union, renting out their property. He also claimed that these funds allegedly finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As of now, it is unknown whether Pushilin's proposals have been included in the final version of the bill or how the country of residence for property owners will be determined.
