FSIN and MVD Begin Recruiting Prisoners for War Without Their Consent – Media

The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) are creating lists of prisoners who may be sent for military service, including those who have not submitted any requests. These agencies select convicted individuals based on their own criteria, excluding those serving life sentences and those with medical disqualifications, reports NewsBox.
In Russia, FSIN and MVD have begun compiling lists of prisoners who may be recruited for military service as part of a contract. According to the "Anti-Torture Team," a ruling by Russia's Supreme Court mentions an internal order that regulates the process of recruiting convicts for participation in military operations.
The document outlines two recruitment mechanisms. The first involves generating lists of individuals deemed suitable by FSIN and MVD for service. In this case, the personal wishes of the convicts are not considered; the selection is based on the agencies' internal criteria.
The list excludes individuals over 65, those serving life sentences, and prisoners with a "Category D" status or blood-related conditions. However, many convicts included in the lists are not even aware of their potential recruitment.
