The former head of Samara, Viktor Tarkhov, and his wife were found dead in the Samara region. According to journalists, they were discovered with gunshot wounds.

The granddaughter of the ex-mayor, Yekaterina Tarkhova, has been detained on suspicion of murder, but sources say she is not providing testimony and is refusing to cooperate with the investigation.

It is known that shortly before the tragedy, Viktor Tarkhov and his wife returned to Russia from Finland. Currently, law enforcement agencies are working to establish the circumstances and possible motives of the crime.

Tarkhov led the Samara administration from 2006 to 2010. His daughter, Lyudmila Tarkhova, was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2022 for extortion, as the investigation found that she had demanded 200 million rubles from a deputy of the Samara Regional Duma.
