Fires, Strikes, and Evacuations: Mass Drone Attack on Russia

A video has surfaced showing the aftermath of a drone attack on Gazprom's gas processing plant in the Astrakhan region. A major fire erupted following the strike, and employees had to be urgently evacuated from the site. Throughout the night, Ukrainian forces launched more than 70 combat drones across various Russian regions, as reported by NewsBox.

On the night of February 3, a drone struck a gas processing facility near Astrakhan. According to eyewitnesses, the facility belongs to Gazprom, and the attack prompted the evacuation of staff.

The region's governor, Igor Babushkin, officially confirmed that the attack targeted fuel and energy complex facilities and resulted in a fire.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the country's air defense system attempted to counter a mass drone attack that night: a total of 70 drones were shot down in various regions. Specifically:

  • 27 were intercepted over the Rostov region
  • 25 were intercepted over the Volgograd region
  • 7 were intercepted over the Astrakhan region
  • 5 were intercepted over the Voronezh region
  • 4 were intercepted over the Belgorod region
  • 2 were intercepted over the Kursk region

 

The governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, stated that falling drone debris caused localized fires at an oil refinery, but these fires were quickly extinguished.
