On the night of January 24, a major fire erupted in Ryazan, presumably on the grounds of the Ryazan Oil Refining Company (RNPK), which is a subsidiary of Rosneft, reports NewsBox.

Eyewitnesses reported two sources of the fire, one of which was preliminarily located near the Novo-Ryazan Thermal Power Plant, as noted by Astra.

A video from the scene quickly spread on social media, showing massive plumes of smoke and flames rising over the industrial area.

Pavel Malkov, the governor of the Ryazan region, confirmed an air attack on the city but refrained from clarifying whether the refinery or energy infrastructure facilities were specifically targeted.

The incident occurred amid increasing drone attacks in Russian regions. Previously, a Moscow court mandated Yandex to conceal maps and photos of the Ryazan Oil Refinery, citing potential attack threats.

As of the morning of January 24, border regions of Russia, as well as the Tula and Moscow regions, were reported to have been struck. Details of the incident and the consequences of the attacks are still being clarified.
