Fire at Refinery, Destroyed Homes, and Power Lines: The Aftermath of the Massive Drone Attack

Russia has once again been subjected to a massive drone attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On the night of January 31, Russian regions were targeted by drones, some of which were intercepted, but there was damage to infrastructure and casualties, reports NewsBox.

On the night of January 31, Russian regions experienced a massive assault by Ukrainian drones. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 49 drones were intercepted. The main impact was on the Rostov region, where 25 drones were shot down. In the Volgograd region, 8 drones were confirmed, 6 in Kursk, and 4 in Yaroslavl. There were also strikes reported in the Voronezh, Belgorod regions, and the Krasnodar Territory, where two drones each were destroyed. However, authorities in the Kursk and Yaroslavl regions claimed the attack was more extensive—with 17 drones downed in Kursk and five in Yaroslavl.

In the Rostov region, drones were brought down in various districts—Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Shakhty, Novoshakhtinsk, and rural areas, including Chertkovsky, Tarasovsky, and Oktyabrsky districts, faced the brunt. In the Krasnosulinsky district, drone debris damaged a power transmission line, leading to an emergency shutdown.

In the Voronezh region, a downed drone crashed onto a car, injuring the driver, who received first aid. Debris from another drone damaged a residential building and a farm. In Voronezh itself, the blast wave shattered windows in an industrial building.

In the Volgograd region, falling drones sparked a fire at an oil refinery. Officially, one person was reported injured and taken to a hospital. The fire was quickly contained.

In the Belgorod region, the city of Shebekino was shelled twice. Reports indicate damaged private homes, broken windows, and destroyed power lines, leaving some residents without electricity.
