A major fire continues to be extinguished in Moscow at the premises of the former Elektrozavod, which housed a fitness club and a dance studio. Around 200 people have been rescued, and three individuals have been hospitalized, reports NewsBox.
A severe fire broke out in a building in eastern Moscow, where a fitness club and a dance studio were located. Initial reports suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, according to RIA Novosti and TASS, citing emergency services.
There were no automatic fire alarm systems in the building, claims Shot. The fire spread rapidly, with dense smoke engulfing the upper floors of the facility. People attempted to escape on their own by breaking windows while rescuers continued the evacuation.
Over 60 firefighters and 16 units of special equipment have been deployed to combat the blaze. The fire has been assigned a complexity level of four, and the area affected has increased to 300 square meters.
At this point, approximately 200 people have been saved; 120 managed to escape on their own, while 80 were evacuated by emergency services. The exact number of those still remaining inside is unknown.
According to Moscow's Department of Health, three people have been hospitalized, but their lives are not in danger. A total of eight individuals sought medical assistance, and Baza published a list of five victims aged between 23 and 45.
