Explosions on a Russian Shadow Tanker? Incident at Savona Port in Italy

In the Italian port of Savona, two powerful explosions occurred on the oil tanker Seajewel during the process of unloading oil. The publication "Ukraine Pravda" claims that the vessel is associated with Russia's shadow fleet and was previously involved in transporting Russian oil to Europe, bypassing sanctions, reports NewsBox.

In the port of Savona, Italy, the Seajewel oil tanker, which had arrived from Algeria, experienced two explosions on the night of February 14, reported Corriere Della Sera. The incident took place during the unloading of oil, but no oil spills were recorded, and no injuries occurred. The causes of the explosions are still unknown.

Meanwhile, "Ukrainian Pravda" states that the Seajewel tanker allegedly belongs to a shadow fleet of Russia, which is used for transporting Russian oil to Europe in circumvention of sanctions. According to the publication, the vessel loaded in Russian ports three times in 2024.

Additionally, journalists report that the tanker had previously docked in the Romanian port of Constanța, having arrived there from Ceyhan, Turkey. According to information from "Ukrainian Pravda" sources, after this Seajewel was supposed to head to Novorossiysk.

As of now, the Italian authorities have not commented on the claims regarding the Russian ownership of the tanker or the possible causes of the explosions.
