Drone Attack on Smolensk Nuclear Plant

In the Smolensk region, anti-aircraft and electronic warfare systems successfully repelled a drone attack, including an attempt to strike a nuclear energy facility. Debris from the downed drone fell near the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant, reports NewsBox.
The armed forces of Ukraine attempted an attack on a nuclear energy facility in the Smolensk region. Preliminary data indicates that one of the downed drones landed near the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant. This was reported by the regional governor, Vasily Anokhin.
According to his statement, several civilian sites were threatened by a massive drone attack. Russian air defense and electronic warfare systems successfully neutralized several aerial devices, including one targeting the nuclear facility. Authorities clarified that there were no damages or casualties as a result of the incident.
The Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant, located in the south of the region near Desnogorsk, is the largest electricity supplier in the area. It provides about 90% of the region's energy needs, playing a critical role in the power system of Western Russia.
