CIT: Over 2,600 People Killed in 2024 Shelling Incidents

In 2024, more than 2,600 people, including 115 children, lost their lives in shelling incidents in Ukraine and Russia, while the number of wounded surpassed 14,000, reports NewsBox.
According to a report by the Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT), based on data from official sources, media, and open-access databases, at least 2,600 people died due to the shelling in Ukraine and Russia in 2024. Among the victims were 115 children, and the total number of injured reached 14,000, including 842 children.
In the territories controlled by Kyiv, 1,915 people were killed, including 81 children. Another 10,164 individuals suffered injuries. In areas under Russian control, there were 452 recorded fatalities, including 20 children, and the number of injured amounted to 2,352. In Russia, 233 people died from the shelling, including 14 children, and 1,639 were injured.
May was the deadliest month with 278 confirmed deaths, including five children, and 1,385 people injured. The largest attack took place on July 8th with a strike on the "Okhmatdet" hospital in Kyiv resulting in the death of 34 individuals, including four children, with another 121 wounded.
The highest number of casualties was recorded in the Donetsk region, with 816 killed, including 30 children, and 3,334 injured. According to the report, 632 people, including 16 children, were killed in artillery shelling, 504 people (including 36 children) were victims of rocket strikes, and drone attacks wounded 3,300 people, of which 142 were children.
