Cancer Patients in Karelia Unable to Receive Treatment Due to Medical Staff Resignations

Chemotherapy treatments for cancer patients in Karelia are being postponed due to a wave of physician resignations, leaving patients waiting for treatment for weeks, reports NewsBox.
Patients with cancer in Karelia have encountered delays in starting their chemotherapy. The hospital has been experiencing a significant exodus of doctors, leading to serious issues with patient care.
According to local media, the resignations of medical staff are attributed to low salaries, heavy workloads, and insufficient working conditions. As a result, cancer patients have to wait weeks for therapy. For instance, a woman with stage four cancer has been unable to receive treatment since January 27th, and instead of her scheduled infusion, she was given an appointment for February 17th.
The regional Health Ministry has acknowledged the issue, describing it as "temporary" and has apologized to the patients. However, the situation remains critical: patients are being told there simply aren't enough doctors available to treat them.
