Zelensky: Ukraine Rejects Russia's Demands to Reduce Army
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that Ukraine will not comply with Russia's demand to reduce the size of its Armed Forces as part of potential peace talks, reports NewsBox.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine will not agree to cut its military forces, as demanded by Russia. According to Zelensky, discussions about decreasing the size of Ukraine's Armed Forces could become a key point in potential peace negotiations, but Kyiv categorically rejects this possibility.
Zelensky also noted that there are currently 608,000 Russian troops on Ukrainian soil. For comparison, he cited statistics from 2022, when Russia sent 200,000 soldiers to Ukraine, highlighting this significant increase.
The proposal to reduce the Ukrainian army to 50,000 personnel was included in Russia's peace deal suggestions, which were presented to Kyiv back in March 2022. This condition was one of Moscow's terms for resolving the conflict, but it was not accepted by the Ukrainian side.
