Scholz Condemns Trump's Demand for Ukrainian Rare Earth Metals

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized Donald Trump's demand that Ukraine provide the USA with rare earth metals in exchange for military aid. He called the idea "selfish" and stated that resources should be used for the country's recovery rather than being exported, as reported by NewsBox.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz criticized Donald Trump's proposal for Ukraine to grant the USA access to its rare earth metals in exchange for further military aid. According to Scholz, Ukraine should utilize its natural resources to rebuild its economy after the war, rather than transferring them to other countries.
"These are significant challenges given the massive destruction happening in Ukraine. That's why I believe it would be better if Ukraine's resources were used for a better future," Scholz remarked.
At the same time, a source from Vladimir Zelensky's circle, as reported by the Financial Times, noted that Trump's proposal "apparently aligns" with Ukraine's autumn "victory plan." According to this document, Kyiv is prepared to offer "special conditions" for cooperation on key natural resources.
The Ukrainian authorities have already confirmed their willingness to consider the USA's offer and to forge a new economic partnership.
