SBU Probes Budanov's Remarks Leak about Threat to Ukraine

The SBU has launched a criminal investigation regarding the leak of alleged comments by Kyrylo Budanov about threats to Ukraine's existence, reports NewsBox.
The Security Service of Ukraine has initiated criminal proceedings following the leak of information purportedly linked to statements made by the head of the GUR, Kyrylo Budanov. This was reported by the Member of Parliament, Roman Kostenko.
These are matters of national concern, involving, among other things, human lives. A criminal case was opened, and rightly so. They need to investigate to prevent such situations in the future," he noted.
Previously, the publication "Ukrainska Pravda," citing its sources, reported that during a closed session in the Verkhovna Rada, Budanov allegedly spoke about potential serious risks to Ukraine's existence if significant negotiations do not commence by the summer of 2025. However, this information was officially denied by the GUR.
Later, on the evening of January 30th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held an extensive conversation with Kyrylo Budanov, where strategic matters and possible future scenarios were discussed. The head of state did not mention the ongoing criminal case but emphasized the importance of proactive decision-making.
