SBU Launches Anti-Corruption Offensive in Military Service Evasion Sector

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has dealt a significant blow to corruption networks involved in military service evasion. In a large-scale operation that unfolded over the past three days, charges have been brought against 63 staff members of former medical-social expert commissions (MSEC) and military medical commissions (MMC) suspected of arranging illegal exits for conscripts across the border, reports NewsBox.
According to information published on the Telegram channel of SBU, a total of 222 individuals have been suspected. Beyond MSEC and MMC employees, other parties involved in corruption related to military affairs have also come under the scrutiny of law enforcement. Notably, 39 individuals are suspected of embezzling funds from the defense budget, along with staff from recruitment centers, also known as military commissariats.
The SBU emphasizes that these evasion networks involve more than just forged medical documents. According to the investigation, participants within these criminal groups have organized entire channels for illegal border crossings.
Charges were also laid against seven individuals whose actions, according to the investigation, harmed national security in the information and cyber domain; against 24 participants whose actions undermined the state's economic interests; and against seven individuals involved in the illegal arms trade.
In total, 287 searches were conducted as part of the investigations, resulting in the detention of 85 persons. The scale of these actions speaks to the seriousness of the issue and the determination of Ukrainian law enforcement to eradicate corruption in critically important sectors for the country.
These data indicate that the SBU is conducting an uncompromising fight against those who profit from the war, undermining the country's defense capabilities and threatening its security.
