"Palace Conflicts" in Uzbekistan: Verdict Delivered in Allamjonov Assassination Attempt Case

A verdict has been reached in Uzbekistan concerning the case of the attempt on the life of Kamil Allamjonov, a person closely connected with the family of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's eldest daughter, Saida Mirziyoyeva. As a result of the trial, 10 individuals have received various prison sentences, including the former head of the State Security Department, reports ArbatMedia.

The military court of Uzbekistan delivered its verdict on February 12 regarding the high-profile case involving an attempt on the former head of the Presidential Administration's Information Policy Department, Kamil Allamjonov. Following the judicial proceedings, 10 people were sentenced to different terms of imprisonment.

According to the court's decision, Shukhrat Rasulov, who previously held the position of head of the State Security Service's Internal Security Division, was found to be the mastermind behind the crime and was sentenced to 23 years in prison. Shahruh Akhmedov and Ismoil Jakhongirov received the same sentence. Javlon Yunusov, considered a mediator between the organizers and the executors of the crime, was sentenced to 18 years and 6 months. Another defendant, Daniyar Toshkhuzhaev, received a 7-year prison term. The remaining defendants received varying sentences based on their roles in the crime.

The attack on Allamjonov occurred on October 26, 2024, when unknown assailants fired at his car, but the official himself was unharmed. After this event, a large-scale investigation was launched in the country, leading to arrests and personnel changes within the security agencies. In November, several high-ranking officials of the Interior Ministry and the State Security Service were dismissed in connection with the case.

In December, Uzbekistan announced an international search through Interpol for two Russian citizens, Bislan Rasaev and Shamil Temirkhanov. According to the investigation, they might be linked to the organization of the crime, particularly in terms of illegal border crossing, hiding information about the crime, and illegal possession of weapons.

Previously, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, denied claims of Chechen involvement in the attempt on Allamjonov's life. However, his statements suggesting that Allamjonov and the head of the Agency for Prospective Projects, Dmitry Li, "must answer for their actions" caused a stir in Uzbekistan. Local deputies perceived his words as interference in the country's internal affairs and demanded a legal assessment of these remarks from Russia's Prosecutor General's Office.

According to unofficial sources, the assassins were allegedly promised a reward of $1.5 million for eliminating Allamjonov and Dmitry Li. However, official sources have not yet confirmed these reports.
