In the Italian Santa Giulia Museum, a visitor accidentally damaged a 16th-century painting when she tripped and grabbed the canvas. The painting has been sent for restoration, reports NewsBox.

An unusual incident occurred at the Santa Giulia Museum, located in the Italian city of Brescia. According to Giornale di Brescia, while viewing the exhibition, a visitor lost her balance and accidentally tore a 16th-century painting by the artist Moretto when she reached out to steady herself. The fall resulted in the canvas being ripped.

Stefano Karadjov, Director of the City Museum Foundation, stated that the damaged painting was immediately sent for restoration. The damage is estimated at several thousand euros, but the costs will be covered by insurance, so the visitor will not have to pay for the repairs.

The woman was unharmed. Museum staff assured that the painting can be restored, and it will be returned to the exhibition after restoration.
