Lukashenko Claims Victory Again: 87.6% of Votes and Europe's Reaction

According to exit poll data, Belarus' presidential election saw Alexander Lukashenko receiving 87.6% of the vote. The European Commission has labeled these elections as fake and announced plans to continue imposing sanctions on the Belarusian regime, reports NewsBox.

Alexander Lukashenko, running for his seventh presidential term, reportedly secured 87.6% of the votes in the recent Belarusian elections according to exit polls. The second most popular option was the "against all" vote, attracting 5.1% of voters. The remaining four candidates, often described by independent media as "technical," collectively garnered 7.3% of the vote.

Meanwhile, the European Commission declared that these elections lacked legitimacy.

The EU will continue to implement restrictive and targeted measures against the regime, stated in a joint declaration by EU foreign affairs chief Kai Kallas and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, published by "Zerkalo."

The election results were met with expected criticism in European circles, where the actions of Belarusian authorities are viewed as a violation of democratic standards. Against this backdrop, the European Union's sanctions policy against Belarusian leadership will remain a priority.
