Living in Luxury Amidst War: Chief Psychiatrist of the Armed Forces Detained
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained the chief psychiatrist of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the deputy chairman of the Central Military Medical Commission on suspicion of illicit enrichment, reports NewsBox.
The Security Service of Ukraine announced the arrest of the chief psychiatrist of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who also held the position of deputy chairman of the Central Military Medical Commission. According to the SBU, the detained official managed issues concerning the fitness of military personnel for service. During the conflict with Russia, he allegedly amassed wealth illegally, totaling over one million dollars.
According to the agency's statement, the accused acquired luxury properties, including a private house, two plots of land, three apartments, and four BMW cars. All these assets were registered under relatives' names to avoid declaration. Additionally, during searches, authorities seized 152,000 dollars and 34,000 euros in cash.
A case has been initiated against the detainee on charges related to illicit enrichment and the declaration of false information. The investigation is ongoing to uncover all circumstances surrounding the acquisition of the assets.
