The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan has uncovered an international crime network that supplied firearms to Russia. According to the investigation, the participants purchased firearms in the USA through online shops, disguised them as video equipment parts, and sent them to Kyrgyzstan where they were assembled into functional weapons and smuggled into Russia.
On January 23, 2025, a Kyrgyz citizen was detained when receiving another package. During the search, authorities found three gun barrels and Hornady ammunition, which is widely used by Russian snipers.
This incident is the latest in a series of revelations concerning illegal arms supply channels. Experts believe the increase in the legal export of weapons to Kyrgyzstan poses additional risks and attracts the attention of international monitors.
