Italy blocks Chinese chatbot DeepSeek

The Italian regulator Garante has blocked the Chinese chatbot DeepSeek for not complying with GDPR requirements, reports NewsBox.
In Italy, the Chinese chatbot DeepSeek has been officially blocked. This decision was made by the local regulator, Garante, which had previously requested information from the developers regarding the collection, storage, and processing of personal data of users from Italy.
The inquiry was related to compliance with the European GDPR regulations, which govern data protection in EU countries since 2018. However, the response provided by the company did not satisfy the Italian authorities. Representatives of DeepSeek stated that their service is not operational in Italy and therefore does not need to comply with European legislation.
As a result, Garante decided to block the chatbot within the country.
