Is Half of Ukraine’s Wealth Under Russian Control? A Statement by Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that approximately half of Ukraine's rare earth metal reserves are under Russian occupation. He expressed concern that Moscow might share these resources with its allies, reports NewsBox.

In an interview with Reuters, President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Russia controls about half of Ukraine’s rare earth metal reserves. He expressed fears that Moscow might grant access to these resources to its allies, such as North Korea and Iran.

We need to stop Putin and protect what we have—a very rich Dnipro region in central Ukraine, emphasized Zelensky.

According to him, Ukraine possesses the largest reserves of titanium in Europe, essential for the aviation and space industries, as well as uranium, used in nuclear energy and weaponry.

Zelensky remarked that Russia knew the exact locations of these resources thanks to geological surveys conducted during the Soviet era and is using this information to strengthen its position.

Additionally, he mentioned that Kyiv and Washington are considering the possibility of storing American liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Ukraine's underground storage facilities.

We are ready and willing to have contracts for LNG supplies to Ukraine. And, of course, we will be a hub for all of Europe, declared Zelensky.
