Is Europe Challenging Trump? Leading Countries Back Ukraine in the Conflict

Leading European nations have declared their support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and readiness to increase military and financial aid. Their announcement came in response to the Trump administration's skeptical assessment of Ukraine's chances of reclaiming lost territories, reports NewsBox.

The foreign ministries of France, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement, expressing support for Ukraine and pledging to enhance the assistance provided. This move was a response to statements from Donald Trump and his defense secretary suggesting that Kyiv is unlikely to regain lost territories.

In the statement released after a meeting of the foreign ministers of leading European countries, it is affirmed that Europe is committed to supporting Ukraine until a “just, comprehensive, and lasting peace” is achieved. Diplomats emphasized that Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity remain key principles for them.

It was also noted that the meeting included the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and leaders of EU diplomatic departments. European ministers stated they are ready to coordinate their further actions with Washington, to ensure Ukraine can negotiate “from a position of strength,” while Europe remains an active participant in the diplomatic process.
