The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine has uncovered hundreds of instances of fraudulent disability claims among government employees. As a result of these investigations, more than 200 officials have been stripped of this status, reports NewsBox.

According to SBI spokesperson Tatyana Sapyan, the violations included staff from customs, tax authorities, the prosecutor's office, and other law enforcement entities. She noted that the investigation is ongoing, and the list of implicated individuals may expand, writes BBC Russian.

“More than 200 government employees have been fully deprived of their fraudulent disability status following a review of how such documents were obtained,” Sapyan stated on a televised broadcast.

The false disability status enabled officials to claim additional benefits and exemptions from mobilization. Corruption within the medical and social commissions, which issued these certificates, has been a topic of discussion in Ukraine for several months.

In October of last year, the National Security and Defense Council held a special meeting on this issue. Following this, Prosecutor General Andrey Kostin resigned, and several heads of medical-social commissions were dismissed.
