German politician loses career over accusations from a nonexistent woman

Stefan Gelbhaar, a member of the Bundestag, faced harassment allegations, leading him to withdraw from the elections. However, a month later, it was revealed that the main accuser was a fictitious character, reports NewsBox.

Stefan Gelbhaar, a 48-year-old lawyer from Berlin and a Bundestag representative of the Green Party since 2017, intended to run for another term. However, allegations of sexual misconduct forced him to pull out of the upcoming elections.

A month later, it became known that the primary allegations had been made on behalf of a woman who, in fact, does not exist. This was discovered only after the politician had withdrawn his candidacy.

The situation caused widespread public outcry, raising questions about the mechanisms for verifying such claims. It remains unknown who orchestrated this campaign and for what purpose the false information was disseminated.
