Armenia considers cutting diplomatic ties with Belarus after Lukashenko's statements

The Armenian authorities are considering cutting diplomatic ties with Belarus following Alexander Lukashenko's comments about Pashinyan’s policies, reports NewsBox.

Discussions have begun within the Armenian government about a potential break in diplomatic relations with Belarus. This development was reported by Hraparak newspaper, citing unnamed sources within the Armenian leadership.

The reason for these discussions stems from the sharp remarks made by Alexander Lukashenko. On January 26, the Belarusian President claimed that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is allegedly "destroying the country," and that the loss of Karabakh is entirely Yerevan's fault. Lukashenko also asserted that Baku had offered Armenia the chance to maintain influence in the region, but Pashinyan refused.

Currently, Armenian officials are weighing two options in response. The first option involves a complete severance of diplomatic relations with Belarus, especially given that the ambassador has already been recalled. The second option is to limit their reaction to official statements, refraining from taking any active measures.

Armenian government circles are also contemplating the possibility that Lukashenko might have coordinated his statements in advance with Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, there is no official confirmation of this information.
