Mass Layoffs of IT Specialists at Sberbank

Sberbank begins layoffs of IT specialists in its subsidiaries, including 'Kuper', 'Megamarket', and 'Samokat', reports NewsBox.
Sberbank has initiated a process of mass layoffs of IT specialists across its subsidiaries, such as Ecom.tech, 'Kuper', 'Megamarket', 'Sberlogistics', and 'Samokat'. According to 'Vedomosti', citing unnamed sources, the dismissals are happening through mutual agreements, and the total scale could reach up to 50% of the workforce in relevant positions.
Previously, CNews reported on the bank's plans to streamline its workforce numbers. Their data indicate that already 200 out of 1,000 IT specialists in the 'Kuper' delivery service have been let go. Sources attribute these measures to cost-cutting efforts and the fulfillment of management directives.
According to the 'IT Workers Union' Telegram channel, the layoffs in various departments will range from 30% to 50%. At a meeting, Anastasia Kudryavtseva, director of 'Kuper', announced that the layoffs would continue until the end of the year. She also noted that employees who rarely appear in the office are considered less effective. In her speech, as reported by the channel's authors, Kudryavtseva compared the dismissed employees to old felt boots that are "too pitiful to throw away, but no longer useful."
