Officials in Uzbekistan Detained During Anti-Corruption Meeting

In Samarkand, during a meeting focused on combating corruption, seven employees from energy companies were taken into custody. They were led out in handcuffs right in front of their colleagues, reports NewsBox.
In Samarkand, during a meeting discussing the fight against corruption within the energy sector, seven employees from electrical and gas supply companies were detained. This was reported by the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan.
The meeting was held on February 14 under the leadership of Deputy General Prosecutor Shokhrukh Aminov. It was devoted to identifying corrupt schemes in the energy sector and measures to cleanse it. Representatives from 'Regional Electric Grids' and 'Khududgazta'minot', as well as their district and city branches, participated in the session.
During the session, seven employees of energy enterprises were arrested on the spot. They are accused of corruption offenses and were immediately taken into custody. They were led out in handcuffs before their colleagues.
Uzbekistan's Deputy General Prosecutor Shokhrukh Aminov, who also heads the Republican Headquarters for Monitoring Fuel and Energy Resources Usage, emphasized the importance of strict control in the energy sector. Company leaders were instructed to tighten measures to prevent corruption and to enhance discipline among staff.
